In the Otis College Library periodicals (magazines, newspapers,
journals) are not all found in the same place. The most recent
issues of the periodicals are located in the special display
racks straight ahead as you enter the library. Bound periodicals
for back issues from 1990 to the present are shelved alphabetically
by title on the shelves in the northwest corner of the library.
Older bound periodicals are stored in the Annex and must
be paged by the Circulation Staff. It will take a few minutes or
hours to have the material brought to the Circulation Desk. For

Full-Text Databases
A growing number of back issues of many periodicals are not kept
by the library at all, but are still available to you in digital
form through the Otis online subscription databases. In addition,
there are a growing number of newspapers and magazines to which
Otis has never subscribed, but are now available through full-text
databases. Full-text articles may or may not include the images and
graphs.
How to Locate Periodical Articles
There are several ways to locate periodical articles, but one way
is to search periodical indexes. You must
first find the citation information - title of magazine, date of
publication, and page number. An abstract may be added to the citation.
Reading the abstract will assist you in determining whether the
article is worth retrieving.
Most are now available
online in periodical databases. The Otis Library subscribes to many databases. Access to online databases is available
from any computer on campus and from home through the Proxy
Server. Your Xnumber and password are required for off-campus access.
