| Mark Salmon's Introduction of the Valedictorian
Otis Commencement 2003 Speeches
It is both an honor and a pleasure to introduce the Valedictorian
at Commencement. This individual is a graduating senior whose overall
grade point-average reflects our highest aspirations for artistic
and academic excellence. This award is the single most important
and widely recognized undergraduate honor given by institutions
of higher education. It serves as testimony to the dedication, hard
work, and creative intelligence that exemplify our educational goals.
The Valedictorian Award is the result of a student's individual
achievement, but is also a manifestation of the educational leadership
of board members, faculty, department chairs and academic staff,
as well as the invaluable support of family and friends.
